You only know that you don't know something, until someone or something shows you a different version or perspective of that which you weren't aware of. Sometimes it seems like we wander through life, not really seeing that which is right in front of us...often because we have seen it so many times that it becomes oblivious. We think that "it is what it is" or "that's just what happens when..." until one day a very simple thing is pointed out to us that can create awareness around a much greater aspect of ourselves and our lives. In that single moment, suddenly we become aware of how much we are able to shift and create in our lives, rather than just letting life happen to us. A few months ago my horse Surf chose to step up and create, rather than retreat as was his norm. In a split second decision he made the choice to offer himself to something new, rather than pulling back into his protective shell that he had become. I quietly stood and genuinely witnessed and honored all the vulnerability he was offering; allowing him to know that this new space he was stepping into was his to create as fast or as slow as needed. That first step into creating a new awareness has led him in the last few months to become an outgoing, centered, confident horse...one that walks up to greet you instead of taking a look and moving to the far end of the pasture. His first step brought forward a personality that all along was somewhere deep inside him, but had been held in check due to the fear of what might happen "IF".
If you find yourself saying "it is what it is", what would be one small step towards a new choice for you right now...could you create a new awareness with that one step?
