How it all began…
AND WHAT IT BECAME…
WHAT IF
you could find a horse that be suitable for whatever discipline, or combination of disciplines, that you were interested in?
WHAT IF
you could find a horse that was versatile in multiple disciplines, and could do them all extremely well?
WHAT IF
this same horse took care of you as much, or more than, you took care of it?
WHAT IF
this horse had such longevity, passion, eagerness and willingness to work and learn and play, that you never needed to look for another horse?
WHAT IF YOU FOUND A HORSE THAT CHANGES WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN, WHAT YOU BELIEVE IS POSSIBLE?
The Morgan Horse, infamously known as the ‘ the Horse that Chooses you ’ and ‘ the Little Horse that Could ’
Founded in 1789 as a breed, by a single little bay stallion Figure who became known as Justin Morgan, the Morgan horse has been a steady mount for kids to and from school, working as carriage horses in the city and and pulling stagecoaches through the countryside, served as the preferred breed of horse for the military as cavalry mounts, and covered miles and miles daily as a stockhorse rounding up cattle. Considered the original stockhorse of the west the Morgan played a prominent part, as early as 1849, in history as the vaqueros horse on the large ranchos in California. This same horse did it all (read more here); with an exceptionally smooth gait, stamina, pride and a fearless commitment to their owners, riders and drivers...along with a personality and spirit so infectious that not only were they using horses, but also treasured family members! Additionally, they captured the heart of any one they came across, so much so that these newcomers had to have a Morgan of their own! Morgans just seem to sell themselves!!

Style and grace, power and longevity, a good-natured disposition and kind, gentle, family friendly personality are all traits that are consistently passed from generation to generation and it is these attributes of the Old Style Foundation Morgan that Butte Morgans is dedicated to preserving, perpetuating and promoting as a foundation of our future.
The pedigrees of our horses are selected for their consistency in producing friendly, willing, trainable dispositions and solid, substantial body types with correct breed conformation, soundness and longevity; all wrapped up in a true eye appealing horse that could be called nothing other than
the Old Style Foundation Morgan.
Our Morgans are family raised, played with, ridden and enjoyed by all of us in the Campmans family and as a testament to their dispositions, they are forgiving, gentle and surefooted with the kids and beginners; yet are spirited, graceful, energetic mounts when an educated rider asks for their full talents to come forth.
Butte Morgans are treasured by their new owners as family friends, competitive sport horse and western working stock horse mounts, pleasure and recreational riding partners, along with contributing to the Morgan genetic pool as breeding stock in other programs.
‘Anything beautiful cannot be forced’
is a quote I have carried with me for many, many years; and I seek to continually educate myself to this day in processes and methods that help me present my authentic self to my horses with every encounter. Following the trails of talented Vaquero hands, classical riding & horsemanship masters, including many friends and mentors, who have all helped take my horsemanship, relationship and communication with horses to a much deeper and more meaningful level ~ and to the horses themselves who have taught me through experience the beauty that comes from letting go & opening up for becoming available to what wants to reveal itself
